Darkwind is a turn-based, 3D persistent-world, multiplayer wargame set in the near future, which combines the depth of detail inherent in turn-based games, with long-term strategic elements that keep the challenge going for months/years.
Owned by either players or NPCs, gangs are made up of of individual characters. You can find useful info all about their various skills, abilities and specialisms, and how they function as pedestrians when not in a vehicle.
A level up from gangs are camps which are usually operated by several gangs working together. Camps can manufacture various equipment.
Browse the full table of Chassis and the various types engines and tires. Find out the real world equivalents of most of the chassis. Also you can get an overview of what vehicle designs the NPC's use and what's preferred by other players.
And of course no vehicle would be complete without weapons!
A web-based vehicle designer is available, Carbuilder
Currently offline
, as is a desktop application Darkwind Vehicle Designer
Read In-depth guides on various topics from experienced players. Beginners could be interested in the new player startup guide or how to drive or how to use weapons. Fresh subscribers should definitely read the initial scout guide before leaving town.
More technical things such as chat commands and a keyboard Input and info on various game mechanics. Also, some information on how much of a time commitment the game requires.
Darkwind takes place in an interesting, post-apocalyptic environment and all sorts of strange creatures will soon lurk the wastelands between the towns which could make travel even more dangerous because of risky encounters.
The towns are each home to several tracks on which various deadly events are hosted.

I am having problems with starting the game. Could anyone help me???
what sort of trouble are you having?
If you can get the game to install and load, the best place to ask questions is the chat lobby. The second best place is the Darkwind forum.
Kinda sad to see the intro page changed,
, but this seems like a good change.
Thanks, doing something like this had been on my mind for a while. I thought it was getting really cluttered and I hope this makes it easier to get into. It's also only ~1 page like this and shouldn't require scrolling down to find stuff.
Some extra layout work could improve it though, but I'm out of ideas, for now.
Having trouble finding the weapons page, etc. Maybe a “site map” or “TOC” link somewhere; new format is newb friendly but lacks what a quick reference user needs.
Added a link to the old intro page which should fill this need until I can come up with a way to set up a TOC or site map. Alternatively, you can click the index button at the bottom of the page; it might show you what you want.
You can get the full page index at [http://www.darkwindwiki.com/doku.php?do=index] or by clicking the index-button at the bottom of every page. I considered linking to it in the main page too to point it out more, but a human-organized index like the old main page with comments would probably be better as long as you remove all the duplicates and keep it updated.
I asked a lot in the chat lobby but I still dunno how 2 enter the freaking wilderness!
Can any1 help?
plz???
The initial scout guide should get you going. Is it not helping?
Maybe a bit late but I noticed the starting page has been changed. I dont think this change was very useful, cos its very unclear, now, related to the listed topics before. Maybe its nice when you read the intro page the first time, but when you use it often its simply too cluttered to be useful. The previous style had a much better overview and I would suggest a change to a previous, more overviewable version. thx.
There's a link to the previous intro page at the bottom of the page. Also, you can use the Index button to see an overview of all the pages.
Not sure where to put this yet:
When items get damaged you get 1 opportunity to repair them to 100%. After this first repair, the maximum repair level decreases by 1% each repair. So, on the second repair the max is 99%, on the third it is 98%, and so on.
Chassis damage reduces armor effectiveness and handling Engine damage reduces power and top speed Weapon damage reduces accuracy until about 50% at which the weapon will start to jam.

Sorry, but it had to be done.
